1615 Vinyl Lettering by DesignDivasGallery
Yes, we did it.  We finally reached 100 Etsy
sales.  I feel dizzy with excitement as I write these words, but that very well could be due to my annual "lose-those-five-pounds-before-you-have-to-be-in-a-swimsuit-in-public" diet.  LOL!!!  I didn't expect to be this excited about reaching this goal, but I really just can't contain my spastic joy at achieving this milestone.  THANK YOU ALL for being so supportive, encouraging, and inspiring-helping Sweet Sincerity Jewelry be what it is today.  Tear!  I'm feeling a bit verklempt, chocking back tears of joy!  Don't worry, I'm not actually crying...well, maybe on the inside. Again, that is very possibly a symptom of  the post-winter hibernation diet!  :)

Speaking of Swimsuit Season (cause for a shout of both "Hooray!" and "Ugh!" simultaneously), check out some amazing Beachy Items that I put together for this weeks SWEET SINCERITY FASHION FINDS!!!  I am so in love with the black monokini, it's ridiculous, and the FANTABULOUS skirt can also be worn as a quick pull on strapless dress!  All of these lovely items are perfectly matched with Sweet Sincerity's Earth-tone Onyx Bracelet and Earrings Set.  What more could a fashionista want? :)  Oh I know...FREE STUFF!

Using we will come up with the winner Wednesday, JUNE 1st! So Stay Tuned for All the Excitement!  Perhaps I need a nap...I am still irrationally joyful, even while talking about giving away our jewelry for free...  Who am I kidding?  I love to give stuff away just as much as I like get grocery money for it!  Gotta love the quote from Marylin Monroe to the left...I wish I had found this for my big rant on HOW I HATE MONEY!  :)  That would have been a perfect!  What can I say but, "Right on, Marylin.  Right on."

So, after much reflection on what I might have learned over the past 100 sales, I've realized that success is not just something that happens.  Okay, that might be an oversimplification of the matter, but hopefully you know what I mean! Perhaps my long lost friend, who never failed to put me to sleep in English class can say express my sentiments more clearly-Henry David Thoreau said, "Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." The meaning that I infer from this quotation, as well as what I've learned in my short months of freakishly pursuing business efficiency, is that success is a result of boring sounding, everyday, "busy work" type things like consistency, hard work, adaptability, and perseverance.  No, I'm not kidding...sorry all you capricious artistic types, of which group I am a member.  I know when I first started my Etsy shop, I had all kinds of dreams of "being discovered" one daysomeone would recognize my amazing talent, paying whatever I asked for my "priceless" work, therefore allowing me to live craftily ever after, no longer as  a starving artist (except in preparation for swimsuit season, of course).  The reality seems to be, though, that these noble (albeit tedious) qualities-like hard work and determination-are just as important to success as vision, creativity, and a unique perspective on the world.  I know.  BUMMER ON THAT!  No, just kidding.  I have no aversion whatsoever to hard work, especially when it doing something that allows me to say everyday, "I love my job!"

So, the other day, as I was trying to promote this blog by listing it in a blog directory, I found myself faced with an EXTREMELY perplexing decision.  Should my blog be categorized as a shopping, a business, or a comedy blog?  I really couldn't decide where all of my crazy rantings should be filed away, as if there is a simple word to describe all my insanity!  After far too much thought on the subject, I ended up characterizing my blog as a FASHION blog because I figured that jewelry is part of fashion, right?  Yeah, I'm not sure that I picked the right label either!!!  However, in an effort not to lose anymore sleep or waste anymore brain power on the subject, I think I'll just go with it.  I really do LOVE fashion, and to be perfectly honest, I am CONSTANTLY shopping on Etsy for my own selfish purposes, finding insanely awesome clothing and accessories all the time.  It's not a stretch AT ALL to talk a little more about fashion-y things every now and then on this blog.  :)   So, to that end, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to share some of my excellent ETSY FASHION FINDS, paired with some of our very own Sweet Sincerity Jewelry.  These gorgeous, flowy choices can be worn from spring to summer!  LET THE SUN SHINE AND THE TEMPERATURE RISE!  All these wonderful picks highlight one of Sweet Sincerity's new rings the Elemental Ring, in sterling silver and green turquoise!

Click to play this Smilebox slideshowSpeaking of fashion, the other day, Sweet Sincerity visited a local park for a PHOTO SHOOT!  It was a beautiful, sunny, spring day-perfect for picture taking!  Initially, I was hoping that we could do a behind-the-scenes-of-the-photo-shoot video to post this on this blog, but a SERIOUS of technical difficulties, I had to can that idea.  So, instead, we have a fun little slide show set to some silly music.  I think it does the trick! :)  What you can't see in this photo shoot is Baby Kahlyn sleeping in her stroller ,as we all scurry to get things done, hoping she doesn't wake up cranky!  Funny how our photo shoots are postponed for feedings and diaper changes.  For the baby...not us, of course. :)  LOL!  Enjoy the slide show, and watch for new pictures and new items in our ETSY SHOP!

Now, you can enjoy some more fashion finds from OTHER Etsy sellers who have included Sweet Sincerity Jewelry in their fab treasury collections!Oh, and as a closing note-I figured out how to change the settings on this blog so that ANYONE can EASILY comment!  So FEEL FREE!!!! :)  More semi-interesting writing about lovely jewelry stuff LATER! :)

I Hate Money...

Reversible Slacker or Go-Getter cup cozy by sewtara
I think the first thing I need to state to start this blog post off right is:

            -I AM!!!!!"

Okay, now that that's out of the way, I feel I can move on... Seriously, I've been writing (and not publishing, mind you) this blog post for like TWO WEEKS NOW!  LOOSER!!!!!  I just read an article called (no joke)  "Three Ways to Make Blogging Suck Less", and in it, it said that blogging should feel like play time, not work time.  While I totally agree with this statement, I don't think this takes into account the REALLY boring things that one must do in order to not embarrass one's self publicly while blogging (i.e. spell checking and spell checking AGAIN, self editing and taking out those jokes that REALLY AREN'T FUNNY, giving a second thought as to whether or not that humiliating picture should go on the blog or see what I mean).  Regardless, I love to blog even more than I love to procrastinate, so I will BLOG ON! Eventually...
Doesn't my niece Kahlyn look hilarious in this customized 100$ bill?

also, check out this great seller's website for blank shipping labels

That brings me to the main topic for this blog post, my UTTER DISDAIN for money.  It's really more of a LOVE/HATE relationship really, having money is somewhat pleasant, but having to have money is just tedious.  Having money (for at least longer than a week or so) requires all sorts of skills like record keeping, organization, and self restraint...none of which I am particularly good at. I suppose the difference between a successful artist and just a dreamer is pushing oneself to attend to all the mundane (i.e. insanely boring) things that must be done to keep one's business running smoothly.  As I'm sure you can tell by now, I HATE the need for practicality with a passion.  I would wear really cute sandals all winter long if I could be 100% sure that  I wouldn't loose a few toes from frost bite ( toes in strappy sandals? not cute.)  The unrealistic idealist in me wishes I could just make and sell art for free and barter for food and lodging. Unfortunately, last time I checked the grocery store does not take gemstones and precious metal jewelry in exchange for bananas...  There's nothing like the inconvenience of having to eat to say alive to give the silly dreamer in me a cold hard smack of reality! LOL :)

Money Compact Reclaimed by ecoblingcouture

Why do I bring any of this nonsensical blabbing up in the first place?  Well, as I have already expressed my love for blogging, you will understand my distress when my adorable little husband reminds me that the hours I spend on my blog are UNPAID hours.  True, I don't get paid for putting out all this ridiculousness into the world, but I read somewhere that Etsy shops that have blogs get 55% more visitors than shops that do not.  Still, I have been wondering about the practicality of monetizing my blog by allowing google adds to pop up here and there.  After much thinking on the matter, I cannot do it.  There goes the idealist in me again, "No don't give me your money, I want my blog to be cute!"  That's so like me-always going for style over practicality.  Don't be surprised if next winter I am missing a few toes (although hopefully I will give more than a second thought to posting pictures of my frostbitten feet on this blog...)  However, I have decided that in the future, if other sellers wold like to advertise on my blog for a weekly/monthly fee, I would definitely consider it.  More details to come on that later!

In the meantime, here's some new treasuries that Sweet Sincerity Jewelry has had the pleasure of being chosen to be a part of!  Enjoy :)
