Cleaning House!!!! (and other thrilling adventures) :)

A Semi-Brilliant Idea
Today, I spent most of my day (the part I wasn't waiting on my poor sick hubby some more) cleaning out the workshop.  AAAAH!  It was a total mess!  Beads, string, paintings, wooden boxes, and random junk EVERYWHERE!  I WILL NOT be showing you a before and after picture...it's too embarrassing what the room looked like.  The thing about my workshop is that it is also our second bedroom.  That presents a lot of challenges, of course.  This room will basically be a place for my in-laws to stay when they visit from New Hampshire.  Matt's mother, who I absolutely love to death, is an extremely tidy person.  I mean EXTREMELY tidy.  Even everything in her closets is labeled and organized-IT'S AMAZING.  I, however, am not that tidy.  Now, I'm usually not a slob, and I'm generally pretty happy with the way I keep house.  However, COULOMBE CLEAN is a whole different level of clean.  It's like glistening clean, squeaky clean, pine fresh clean.  Thankfully, my mother-in-law doesn't hold me to any unreachable expectations, I just always want to impress her and make her love me... you know, it's just a mother-in-law, daughter-in-law thing.  Anyway, I had a rare flash of brilliance today when I was cleaning and organizing the pit of despair I call my office.  Take a look at how I managed to cuten up a shelving unit with a few pins and a curtain we weren't using!  Great right!  It'll help the room be more guest friendly for sure.

Cute  Baby Benny

When organizing my shop today, I found some things my mom had saved from my childhood.  I put this picture up in the shop.  It's from kindergarten!  I don't know what my hair was doing, but I do remember that outfit-I loved it!  It had matching pink stirrup pants, oh the 90's!  So I put the photo up in the shop as evidence of  my greatest achievement to-date, Kindergarten Star of the Day!  LOL!  Everyone got to be "Star of the Day" eventually.  I remember thinking that it really wasn't that great of an honor, because it was just a matter of time before everyone got to be the star.  Nevertheless, I also remember waiting on pins and needles for my turn to be the star...  I was a strange, thoughtful child, always eager for attention.  I guess I haven't changed that much!!!  :)

Rotary Phone Acrylic Charm Earrings by EastOfTheSun

In other news, look what great earrings I received in the mail today!  They are from another one of my favorite Etsy sellers, EastOfTheSun.  Click on the link and check out her diverse and interesting shop.  I also got a matching necklace as well!  I love them-they're so unique and fun, just  like all of her items!  She also has some great new Maine photography in her shop that remind me of why I LOVE Maine.

Nursing Hubby Back to Health :(

Today, I haven't been super productive, because my hubby is home sick with a cold/flu thing that has him uncomfortably incapacitated.  I'm doing my best Florence Nightingale to try and take good care of him, running to get him food, hot drinks, medicine, and just generally trying to show him love and attention. I hope he feels better soon!  He's been chillin' out, watching movies, and sleeping on and off.  So, I haven't been able to do much jewelry work today, but hubby is more important, obviously. :)  Poor Mateo!  He looks so sad and sick in this picture(but still super cute)!  He even let me take this adorable picture of him to post on my blog!  What a good sport! :)

My next hair color?
I did get out of the house to do a few errands today, and in a moment of weakness, I picked up another box of hair dye...I know, I know.  After my post yesterday, I was discussing with my husband dying my hair again.  HE LOOKED SCARED! :)  LOL.  He said he didn't want me to go RED red, instead he thought I should try some highlights first. So, when I saw this color in the store I liked it and thought is was low-key enough for adding a few highlights.  Now though, in different lighting, it looks like it might turn my hair purple!  Yikes!  I'll let you know when I am brave enough to try it.  Whatever happens, it won't be my first hair dying, risk taking adventure-just ask anyone in my family about the time I accidentally dyed my hair pumpkin ORANGE... Good times, good times.

Yesterday, I made a treasury of some of MY favorite things in my shop so that I could post it here on my blog.  Kind of a neat idea, right?  Well, at least I thought so.  I know that you all are totally capable of finding your way to my Etsy shop, but I thought I would make it ultra easy for you! LOL :)

In other news, I got an exciting email today!  Chantal, from the Daydreaming Escape Blog, posted my interview today!  How exciting! She added some really nice pictures too of my items.  Check it out!  Hopefully this will bring more exposure to both her blog and my shop.  Thanks Chantal!  Here is the link:

Shirt Patterns from pixieval

Oh yes, AND look what I got in the mail today!  I received clothing patterns from pixieval on Etsy.  I'm really excited to start sewing again! I used to make dresses, and it was so much fun!  I don't know how to use a sewing machine yet, but that is the next logical step. :)  It's a long process sewing a gown by hand!  When I made my purchase from pixieval, she was running a BOGO special, so I got to choose an extra pattern.  I chose an UNDERWEAR pattern-how hilarious would it be to make your own panties, I mean really...  That's just funny stuff!!!!!  Who knows,  these patterns could be the start of a new career path for me in women's fashion!  LOL!  Probably not without a sewing machine, but that won't stop me from trying to make my own clothes!  NOW THAT'S THRIFTY!
My Newest Creation

I did manage to make ONE new pair of earrings today!  What do you think?  Leave me a comment if you have an opinion!  I think they're beautiful.  I'm really excited about them too because I got such a good deal on the crystals, I can sell them at an affordable price! They are very similar to my Antique Noir Earrings, but with these I decided to use a baroque shaped Swarovski crystal for the dangle.  I'm going to try to list them in my Etsy shop tomorrow.  Still gotta come up with a name!  Any ideas?  Please, leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you! :)

This is My 20th Post! It better be a good one right!?

So, I don't know if many people noticed, but I was doing a poll on this blog to see which hair color people preferred on me, blond-as in the photo I have with my hubby posted, or black-which is my current hair color and the color in my Etsy photos. Well, the results are in! 66% of you like me as a blond! I'm pretty sure my parents voted at least once a day, stacking the deck against my black hair. It's safe to say that they are not big fans of this color! :) LOL!  I think I am going to try red hair before I go back to blond for good, but I'm going to wait a while. I don't like to scare people too much with my drastic hair color changes. :)

So I've been pretty busy today researching new blogs to apply to, creating more social networking avenues for promoting my jewelry, answering emails, and participating in some BNR treasuries (which means BUY and REPLACE-you can buy a spot in a treasury by purchasing an item from another seller, then your item replaces their slot!).  I'm pretty wiped out today from all the work I did yesterday, so I pretty much feel like napping at this point.  Oh yeah!  I also finished my interview for the Daydreaming Escape blog.  It'll be exciting to see the post, I'll be sure to add a link to it later!

I got something else in the mail today from an Etsy Seller!  I absolutely love it!  It's so snuggly-made from soft baby alpaca wool.  It's cold weather chic!  This cowl neckwarmer is from fellow Mainer, magentaskystudio.  Check out her shop if you want something warm and snuggly this winter!

Buttonup Neckwarmer Cowl (I bought this in purple!)

Galaxy Bracelet

Lastly, I'd love everyone to check out this amazing Etsy shop, ReflectionsJewelry.  I absolutely love all her jewelry, and I bet you will too!  She's a Maine local who makes "Glittering Jewelry with a Retro Twist".  Her Etsy profile states the each of her pieces is her  "own design, crafted with high quality materials, including Swarovski crystals, pearls, semi-precious stones, sterling silver, gold, and antiqued brass." I want whoever took her pictures to take mine too! :) Please give her site some love! Her high end jewelry is just amazing!   And check out a few of my favorites from her shop:

Perfect Sunlight for Picture-Taking Makes for a Crazy, Busy Day

After the intense blizzard yesterday, I woke up to a beautiful sunshiny day!  Which works out so wonderfully, because today I wanted to list some new items in my shop.  It was perfect lighting this morning for picture-taking.  So, I got right to work and took a ton of photos!  I ended up listing 6 new items in my shop, which brings me to a grand total of 65!!!  I'm pretty impressed with myself... LOL!  It's so funny-it makes me so sad after I've made new, beautiful jewelry to have to put it away in a box, unworn, waiting to be sold.  I wish I could send each piece out to a good home so they could all be worn and enjoyed as they are meant to be ! :) Here are some of the new items I listed! To see more new items, visit my shop   www.sweetsincerity.etsy.com

La Gitana Romantica Chandelier Earrings
Tie It With a Bow Earrings
Intertwined Lavender Necklace
I'm hoping to go to a craft store again today (maybe tonight) and buy some beading wire and other things, so I can start on more new designs.  I know, craft stores have become my weakness.... :)  You'd think they'd know me by name by now.  Well, at some stores they do.  Blush!  How embarrassing!  I also want to work on my interview for the Daydreaming Escape blog today!  I've got to get on that! It's a great opportunity!
Golden - Ribbon and Fabric Flower Headband

So, I've been getting a lot of great things in the mail this week that I picked up on Etsy.  One of those things came from a really diverse shop that I absolutely love, noliabliss.  To the right, you can see a picture of what I bought, isn't it adorable!  It's a gold colored flower headband, and it's really cute. And Katie, the shop owner based out of Denver, CO, sent me an extra matching ring to go with it!  I love Etsy!  The sellers are so diverse and generous!  I like her shop a lot because it's so eclectic, and in each category that she sells in, I love her stuff!

Here are some other fantastic items found in her Etsy shop, noliabliss!  She makes jewelry, abstract photography prints, and accessories!

All You Need Is Love - Abstract Trio Lennon Wall 4x6

Turquoise Hope - Copper and Turquoise Necklace

The abstract photos of the Lennon wall in the Czech Republic are my absolute favorite item in her shop.  I really want to hang her trio of pictures in our new house, but I have to figure out where on earth I will hang them before I purchase. My hubby is grateful for my thoughtful hesitance, I'm sure! :)  These photos were so inspiring to me, that I actually based a whole treasury on them!  Check it out!

And, last but not least, check out this hilariously adorable picture of my new niece, Kahlyn.  She is so funny!  Making crazy faces just like her mumma!

What!???!?!?!?!

Back to Work!!!! Sort of...

After my ridiculously indulgent shopping expedition on Friday, I was geared up to use my free time this weekend to get some new jewelry designs done!  Mission accomplished!  I was surprisingly productive and came up with a lot of great designs!  I don't have them listed on Etsy yet-I don't even have names picked out for them! If you have any good ideas for the items pictured, leave a comment on this post-I could use all the help I can get! :)  LOL!
Unfortunately, my extreme streak of productivity came to a screeching halt when I realized that, although I had plenty of new, inspiring beads and metal findings to pick from, I RAN OUT OF BEADING WIRE!!!!  Story of my life...  It's rough being clueless sometimes. :)  I also learned something very interesting about working with gemstones, it's very exciting and fulfilling when you come up with a great design to use them in, but it is TRAGIC when you are attempting to implement that design and YOU BREAK THEM!!!!!  I was definitely crying on the inside when I broke labradorite briollette after labradorite briollette trying to add them to a pair of earrings!  Then, I was even more heart broken when I foolishly took the time to calculate what each stone cost!!!!!  No wirework for those delicate little beauties, I learned me lesson! :)

So, I was all geared up after the productive weekend to start a fresh new work week running errands, listing new items, blogging, etc, but the weather had other plans!  Here in Maine, we are in the middle of blizzard like conditions!  Last time I heard, we are expected to get 14 inches of snow today!  Here is a picture I took from our front door, across our street!  It looks like a post card, doesn't it!?  Not a whole lot of snow here yet, but the roads are already covered and slick. No matter, I still love winter-it's so beautiful.

Along with this wintery weather came another surprise wrench in the works that will seriously inhibit my productivity today.  This unexpected occurrence I am not unhappy about at all!  My hubby, the carpenter, is home from work today!  Now, normally he and his business partner brave the inclement weather and work in such ridiculousness, but by some miraculous stroke of sanity, they've decided to stay in today.  So, although I have a long list of things I should be doing, the likelihood of me accomplishing any of them is quite slim...I have more adorable matters to attend to.  See!?!? :)

Even though winter is my favorite season, I still miss a few things about spring and summer.  So, dreaming of green grass, sunshine, and flowers, I made this treasury this morning.  Check it out!  I'm off to be unproductive.  :)

SHOPPING, SHOPPING, SHOPPING!!!! Need I say more?

So today was an interesting shopping trip.  I hit two of those local chain craft stores because I had fantastical coupons there.  I also went to my favorite bead shop, Downeast Sticks'n Stones.  Needless to say, I came home with a bundle of goodies.  One thing I have learned is, never buy from a chain store unless you have a discount coupon or there is something on sale.  It really saves money in the end, that way your products can be more affordable to your clientele.  However, the only drawback to that line of thinking is when there is a sale, or I do have a fabulous coupon, it's like skinny girls eating cupcakes!  You know what I mean :) I come home with crazy loads of loot on one day, and sometimes there is sticker shock and buyers remorse afterward.  Not today though, because I got some GREAT stuff. See for yourself.

What am I absolutely most excited about from my stash of crazy, awesome beads?  The gorgeous labradorite that I bought from Downeast Sticks'n Stones.  I got some other great stuff there too, but these little faceted briolettes are my favorite!  Their glistening blue, grey shimmer is mesmerizing.  Not sure what I'm going to make with them yet, but I'm sure they be the highlight of the piece.  Check them out!  Gemstones make my mouth water!  Is that weird?  Yeah...it probably is.

Okay, Not that I haven't plugged my favorite bead shop enough, but here's a link to my blog post with their website and facebook fan page http://sweetsincerityjewelry.blogspot.com/2010/12/today-is-shopping-and-shipping-day-and.html.  I really just love that store!  You can buy beads anywhere, but the quality of materials and the varied selection is phenomenal.  Not to mention that the customer service is far superior to any chain store (i.e. I don't have to spend 25 minutes of my day reasoning with a manager about getting a discount on clearly defective beads)  It was evident today they are very much appreciated in the community as well, by the excited hustle and bustle going on in their shop.  Also, the owner showed me a recent article in the Bangor Daily News featuring their store and new shop location (they just moved a little while ago).  Here's the link to the fantastic article, just click on the adorable picture of the mother and child shopping in their store.

AND I found out today that the owner has an Etsy store!  Check it out:  http://www.beadjunk.etsy.com/  So now YOU, wherever YOU are, can get some of their great selection of beading supplies!  But hands off the faceted crab agate!  That's mine :)

"Fall Flourish" Bracelet

And last but not least, a tribute to the lovely Sarah, who also helps her mother run Downeast Sticks'n Stones.  I took a beading class from her a while back, and she taught me how to make things that don't fall apart.  The rest is history!  :)  She, herself, is a very talented jewelry designer! Her Etsy shop GypsyAdornment makes, "Eclectic Jewelry and Trinkets for the Adventurous Soul."  How cool is that?  :) Check her site out!http://www.gypsyadornment.etsy.com/

Here are some of my favorites of her items:

"Genuine Turquoise and Antique Gold
Pearl" Bracelet and Earring Set
"Mermaid Blossom Bracelet"

Everyday A Little More Progress-10 SALES AND COUNTING!!!!!

So, yesterday was kind of a landmark day for me, I made my 9th and 10th sales!!!! I'm pretty excited about it! Things have been going really well this month, especially this week, surprisingly enough! I ran a special for my 10th sale and gave away a free jewelry box with a pair of earrings. This is what I sold:

"Your Tears Are Not Forgotten" Earrings
"Bitter Sweet Recollections" Earrings
"Bombay Mahogany" Jewlery Box

Also, I bought something really nifty from one of my fellow Maine sellers, check it out! It's made from a bottle cap and an old map out of a french text book! Can't wait to get it!  This seller, littleeyedesigns, has an amazing "2010 Clearance" sale right now! Coupon Code GETITGONE will save you 40% on your order! Impressive!  Click on her shop name to be brought to her site!  Also, check out her blog! http://littleeyedesigns.wordpress.com

Another exciting thing is that I got a ton of hits on my blog yesterday! I woke up this morning and saw that I have over 300 hits! That's craziness! I'm very pleased! It's a little nuts because I just started this blog on Sunday, and to be honest I really didn't think anyone would be interested in reading it! :)

I did get to go buy some great new products yesterday, but I'm going out shopping again this morning, so I'll do another post about all the incredible goodies I got for inspiration!

Oh yeah! One more thing! Another blog wants to do a feature on my shop! How cool is that!? I just to get off my sorry tail and write up the interview. The blog site is Daydreaming Escape, check it out! Chantal, the author, is so sweet!  She is the owner behind DragonflyExpression shop on Etsy, here's a link to another blog all about her shop, http://dragonflyexpression.blogspot.com/.  She makes beautiful paper flowers and other goodies! SEE!?!?

My Newest Etsy Treasury Collection-"Shopping for Kahlyn"

Shopping for babies has been on my mind a lot lately, and not just because everything about them is super cute (especially their little shoes).
My new baby niece, Kahlyn Rose, was born two and a half weeks ago! She is so cute and adorable! See pictures of her here:

http://sweetsincerityjewelry.blogspot.com/2010/12/today-is-shopping-and-shipping-day-and.html

Sometime, hopefully in the near future, Aunty has some serious shopping to do from these talented Etsy sellers!

After The Storm

So, last night we had a beautiful snowfall that canceled our evening activities, but left a gorgeous winter wonderland in its wake.  It was a pleasure to wake up this morning and look outside!  Take a look at how our little lot became a snow and ice capped masterpiece!

Do you love our new little house as much as we do?  My husband and his business partner built it themselves, they even did the foundation too!  I'm so proud to have a handy man! (and he's cute too!)  If you live in Maine and are interested in building a new house with trustworthy, honest contractors, their business is called JDS Homes, Phone # (207) 949-0364.
It must have been hilarious for our neighbors to see me outside this morning running around outside taking pictures of the house and the back yard!  I was all bed head and frumpy in jogging pants and a pair of my husbands work boots!  Not my normal attire, I swear!!!

"Confectionary Shop Shoes in a Row" by AMidnightShow
Also, yesterday, I receive my much anticipated art prints from A Midnight Show, a fantastic seller on Etsy.  Check out these prints!!!!  I so love them!  They are going up in our new house, I just have to pick a place.  Can you tell I have a slight shoe obsession?  I got two others that are utterly fantastic too!  Check out her site, you won't be disappointed!   http://amidnightshow.etsy.com/

Three of My New Prints from A Midnight Show

So on today's agenda is finally using my insanely awesome coupons at local craft stores to get some inspiration for new items in my shop!  I'll let you know what I find, and what I create!  In other news, my husband and I have been throwing around the idea of starting another Etsy shop to feature his photography prints and my art prints... (Yes, not only is he a cute, rugged carpenter, he's an aspiring photographer too!)  Here are some pieces of my work that I was thinking about selling through the shop.  What do you think?

Mostly Shipping, Only Virtual Shopping (which is still crazy fun!)

So unfortunately, my day today composed of finishing and packing my orders from yesterday, an appointment, house work, and waiting in line at the post office. That's because, although I have killer coupons burning a hole in my pocket to my favorite local craft stores, I didn't have time or energy to go shopping, I'm feeling yucky, and it's snowing giant snowflakes out! I'm a horrible driver and it's getting slick out on those Maine roads!  :)  Bought a few things on Etsy today though-it's so much easier shopping from the comfort of your sofa when the weather is bad outside.  I bought a key ring thing, a business card holder, and I think that's it... Oh, and a pretty hair clip!  Check them out! (and click on their names to be brought to their sites)
